What is a CNMP?

A Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP) is a plan a livestock producer has for achieving agronomically efficient and environmentally safe manure distribution. It includes fertilizer nutrient management, soil testing, manure testing, and applicator calibration. A CNMP is also an essential component of an application for state livestock waste control facility construction and operating permits, if one is required.

The University of Nebraska has a CNMP project team that has developed several of the following:

workbooks
software

Land Application Updates
Liners and Covers for Agricultural Waste Storage Workshop

that show livestock producers and their advisors how to develop a CNMP using these workbooks, and how to maintain a permit using the forms and software provided (all materials are available digitally). For more information, click on the button that refers to your need.
